As a leading innovator in the MedTech sector, we have recently submitted our feedback to NHS England in response to their consultation on developing an integrated, rules-based MedTech pathway. Our response underscores the importance of creating a framework that fosters innovation, improves patient outcomes, and ensures value for money.

In our detailed submission, we have focused on key areas crucial to the pathway’s success. Among these are the enhancement of guiding principles, the importance of robust data collection for horizon scanning, and the need to establish a shared understanding of MedTech’s value early in the product development cycle.

Key areas addressed in VE3’s response:

VE3’s submission includes several strategic recommendations designed to strengthen the proposed pathway:

• Real-World Evidence: VE3 emphasized the importance of prioritizing the collection and evaluation of real-world evidence (RWE) to ensure that decisions about adoption and reimbursement are based on comprehensive, robust data that reflect the true impact of MedTech in clinical practice.
• Continuous Improvement: The company advocates for a dynamic pathway that incorporates regular feedback and allows for continuous learning and improvement. This approach would ensure that the pathway remains responsive to the changing landscape of medical technology.
• Sustainable Funding: VE3 highlighted the need for sustainable funding and resource allocation to support the evaluation, adoption, and implementation of MedTech innovations.
• International Collaboration: The submission also calls for increased international collaboration to harmonize regulatory and assessment processes, reducing duplication of efforts and facilitating faster access to innovative technologies across different healthcare systems.

We expressed our commitment to working closely with NHS England, NICE, and other stakeholders to develop and implement a MedTech pathway that is inclusive, transparent, and sustainable.
